Bollywood celebs Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Ritesh Deshmukh and eminent politicians L.K. Advani, Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj and Sharad Pawar attended the funeral of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray held at the Shivaji Park ground in Mumbai on Sunday.

Others spotted were Nana Patekar, Vinod Khanna, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahesh Manjrekar and Smriti Irani.

An emotional Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Twitter: “BalaSaheb put to the elements .. 2 million on the streets walk along his cortege, in respect and in grief .. never before such !! As I drive back from the funeral, two poster images stir an emotional chord. One : the word 'Swargiya' before Bala Saheb's name .. And Two : A poster of a rudraksha mala around a chest, the thread broken and a rudraksha seed falling away. Caption : 'mala tutli'”

Bal Thackeray died on Saturday following a prolonged illness.
