‘Saguni’ expected to have a big opening at the box office

Karthi like Saguni!

Karthi’s mega treat this summer is his political thriller Saguni. Paired for the first time opposite Pranitha and teaming with debutant filmmaker N Shankar Dayal, the actor took up the challenge to portray a politician in Saguni. The film is a political thriller with mass appeal.

You have seen Karthi doing action, romance, and comedy in his films, but in Saguni he is cunning, confident and a smart man, just like the character of Shakuni in Mahabharata. After the success of Siruthai, the young actor read various scripts and finally zeroed down on N Shankar Dayal’s script. The movie went on the floors in April 2011 and did take a little more than expected time to finish.

The makers considered a lot of actresses for the film, from Tamanna, Kajal Aggarwal to Anushka Shetty. Finally, the role was offered to Pranitha, and she agreed to do the film. The movie also features a host of other interesting characters and versatile actors like Roja, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Prakash Raj, Mumtaj and Nassar.

The story of Saguni is about an ordinary man taking a plunge into politics in order to clean the system. Karthi’s character has the shades of Lord Krishna and Shakuni of the epic Mahabharata. He runs the show with his intelligence and hatches a plan to eliminate the ruling party. The movie has a lot of twists and turns that culminate into a thrilling climax.

Saguni also releases in Telugu as Shakuni, and is going to hit the theatres worldwide at 1,150 screens on June 22; it is releasing in 400 plus theatres in Tamil Nadu alone. The movie is expected to have a grand opening at the BO.
