Aishwarya Rai has been put under the crosshairs by a legion of detractors for her post-baby weight issues. But the fashion designers in Bollywood think that the rant about the actress’s chubbiness is much ado about nothing.

Comparisons with international celebrities like Victoria Beckham who lose their post-baby fat within days might be unfair. Aishwarya Rai, though a beauty with international fame and following, has not made any overt attempt to hide her plump figure, her double chin and chubby cheeks after the birth of her daughter five-and-a-half months back. Though her critics slam her over this weight and style blunder, her supporters say the fans must appreciate the fact that Ash’s putting forward her real face, rather than being vain.

Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee tells a news agency: “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has just delivered a baby and like any other woman she would definitely take time to put off that weight...She's a super celebrity and I think she is doing a commendable job by showing her real side to the media.”

Likewise, designer Rocky S feels people are getting obsessed with Aishwarya’s weight. “Why people are obsessed with Aishwarya's weight. This maternity weight takes time to lose,” he says.

Also coming to Aishwarya Rai’s defence is the designer Rina Dhaka who thinks that the media is very harsh on the actress and deliberately printing photos that are taken from an angle that makes Aishwarya look fat.
