Elegant and flirty

It was the most awaited moment for the fans of one of India’s best style icons. Sonam Kapoor arrived at the red carpet on the concluding day of the 65th International Cannes Film Festival wearing a vintage Alexander McQueen lace gown, but was it wow?

Sonam Kapoor is known for her chic and sublime fashion choices, and her second innings at Cannes was much anticipated. However, the actress couldn’t live up to the expectations because her Cannes red carpet debut last year was too ravishing to forget. Though fashionistas have hailed her this time for the dramatic couture gown, and getting the look right for the event with a simple updo and bold red lips, the wow factor was certainly missing. Blame it on the little skin show or the volume of the gown, Sonam’s Cannes outing hasn’t pleased many. However, we can’t say that she wasn’t looking classy in this black number, while attending the Therese Desqueyroux premiere and the closing ceremony. With that million-dollar smile and panache she surely knows how to melt hearts.

Her other looks at Cannes were sure-shot winners. Whether it was Naem Khan gown at the Chopard party, her straight-from-the-fairy tale look in Dolce & Gabbana for the L’Oreal Paris closing ceremony dinner or the flirty-fun look in a Marni with yellow Roger Vivier shoes for the media call, Sonam stayed true to her moniker of a fashion icon.

In fact, her best look at Cannes 2012 was for the media call when she posed for L’Oreal. Sonam was styled by her sister Rhea Kapoor, and even tweeted about the photoshoot, “Getting ready for LOrealParisIn interviews with johnnolletofficial and mrbillyb ! Who are making me look lorelectric!”
