Esha Deol beamed with the joy of a gay bride as she married the man she recently claimed to be madly in love with: Bharat Takhtani.

The wedding took place according to traditional south Indian rituals inside the Iskcon temple in the suburbs of Juhu on Friday morning. Esha Deol looked resplendent in a red and gold Kanjeevaram saree, with additional touches by designer Neeta Lulla. Bridegroom Bharat Takhtani wore a beige sherwani with zardozi work.

The groom came to the florally decorated venue on a chariot and was welcomed by the bride’s family. Thereafter, the duo exchanged nuptial vows in a traditional ceremony, in the presence of the bride’s parents, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, both aglow with pride and joy.

Hema Malini later told reporters: “It was a normal South Indian wedding, with just slight changes. I am very happy for Esha, she has found the right person. We all are very happy. I will miss her but she is going to be in Mumbai, so I am happy about that.”

The wedding was attended by Bollywood celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Vinod Khanna, Fardeen Khan, Neeta Lulla, Nishka Lulla, yesteryear actress Vyjayantimala, Shatrughan Sinha’s wife Poonam and two sons Luv and Kush, and yesteryear actor Manoj Kumar.
